When Kev & I first started this podcast it was mostly based on readers calling in and leaving voicemails. At first we were getting about 300 calls per week. Now it is typically about 100-150 which is still more than enough.
Since we had the Google Voice account setup we decided to experiment and see if we could conduct live interviews. This episode is probably the 3rd or 4th live phone interview Kev has done. Incarcerated Bob is quasi-famous for being a notorious WFAN caller. It was fun to get him on the phone and have him treat it just like he was calling a real radio station.
Calls can be placed through the Google Voice network and routed through gChat. This way, all the sound goes from the computer to the mixer just like any other music or sound effect. We did the call over WiFi and so far it has worked out fine. For important calls I’d recommend having a hardwired connection.
