So I logged into Twitter the other day and along the menu bar there was and option that said something along the lines of “GET MORE FOLLOWERS”. Of course when I got back to get a screenshot the button is no longer there. Nevermind! Found it!
I thought it was interesting because it seemed kinda spammy and definitely not something I’m used to seeing officially endorsed by twitter. But when I cecked it out it lead me to the Autotweeting.com BETA. Interesting to see that just a little over 4000 people are using it. It’s a paid service with a free trial. It’s a mashup of a few other resources I’ve used in the past but it appears to put a few things all in one place.
More importantly, this seems to be the first time that Twitter has endorsed the follow/unfollow method to gain more followers. Autotweeting disclaims multiple times that it is within Twitter TOS and that there is no rush of getting banned.
Here is their introductory video:
(Maybe…)
How it works from Autotweeting.com on Vimeo.
(If that didn’t embed just quit being so lazy and quick the link)
Autotweeting.com is basically a dash of TweetAdder, a sprinkle of ManageFlitter and a pinch of Hootsuite. It packages scheduled tweets, auto follow/unfollow and multiple account management all into one. Until, now I haven’t seen all of those features in one place. It also allows actual auto-tweeting from selected RSS feeds. The potential for spamming is frightening, but in the right hands, this tool might actually be able to be used for good.
Autotweeting is a paid service with packages starting at $5 per month and accepts PayPal.
As much as I’d like to say I am going to resist this, I’ll probably give it a run and see if it brings any real value.
